Sex Ed Digital Video Contest is Underway – Win $3500

The Fresh Focus Sex Ed video contest launched in September and quickly spread across the blogosphere. People are talking, and now it’s time to start making films!
Here’s a taste of our first 6 submissions:
• Stick Love vol 1 is an animation about loneliness and commonality.
• Heard it profiles youth in Oakland, CA talking about where they learned about sex (and it ain’t from school!).
Anyone aged 15-30, can make a video. Content is more important than quality, and needs to:
1) Tell us whether your sex ed sucked or rocked and why
OR
2) Redesign sex ed for the future.

Grand Prize: $3500 scholarship or cash equivalent
Second Prize: $1000
Third Prize: Choice of Nintendo Wii, digital camera or iPhone.
Entries accepted until midnight on December 31st and voting begins January 4th, 2008.
Finalists will be featured at the Sex::Tech Conference: Focus on Youth, January 22-23, 2008 in San Francisco at a panel moderated by creators of the Midwest Teen Sex Show, a vlog for teens.

We’ve been secretive and we don’t want to be! Here’s what’s up lately with Sex::Tech.

1. Submissions! We reached our deadline and got 60+ abstracts! We’ve assembled a team of 8 diverse reviewers. Acceptance notifications will be emailed out no later than October 26th…still in time for early bird registration.

2. Contest! Fresh Focus Sex Ed Video Contest is making the web rounds. We’ve been blogged about on About.com, Dr. Petra Boynton’s blog , Hallmonitor, Tell Them!, Babeland and more! Help spread the word by Digging the contest page or strut your stuff by making your own video.

3. Hot Coverage! Our friends at Youth Radio are going to help us out with some stellar live conference coverage. Look for them at Sex::Tech to learn more about their Youth Focused programming and training programs.

4. Schedule! Sex::Tech program will be out in early November so you can start salivating over all of the amazing sex/tech work happening across the country and around the world. We are having an unanticipated international presence that we are very excited about as well.
