Sweet sweet Sex::Tech

It was a pleasure to be apart of the ISIS team and in helping set up Sex::Tech 2009. I learned about great resources and met really neat people. It felt like a place where I could actually belong; with all the energetic, positive people, all getting together to build a foundation of truth and reality!

Buckworld was amazing. They way they told their story through “Crump” and theatre, well, it was beautiful, and strong, and heart wrenching, and real.

The Unconference session was great. Everyone who wanted to share something or have a group discussion with people signed up for a sessions and the attendees got to choose whatever one they wished to go to. I held one myself that was for teens only, and we talked about the different things we were doing in our communities to make a difference and how to reach our peers about keeping themselves healthy and having the knowledge to get out of itchy situations.

When I asked presenter Domenic Storti what he though about Sex::Tech, he said that he was, and I quote “… blown away…I’m very new to the whole sexual health and technology field and so I learned sooooo much from so many people.  I will certainly apply and incorporate what I learned at Sex Tech into the work we’re doing at Peel Public Health in particular text messaging…such an amazing opportunity to connect with youth using the technology they converse in.” He has confirmed that he will “most definitely” be attending Sex::Tech 2010! When emailing it up with mk Eagle, I heard, “Sex::Tech is awesome! I’ve never been at such a youth-friendly, diverse conference.”

And so, with much positive feedback, the ISIS team is satisfied with the turnout of sex::Tech 2009. [except Sex::Tech 2010 should be even BIGGER next year!]

And attendees out there, don’t forget to take the email survey! Thanks!
