This program supports studies to prevent the acquisition of HIV infection for adolescents at risk for HIV. These studies can be at the level of the individual, family, group, or community, both domestically and international. Areas of emphasis:

  • Interventions to prevent HIV-infection  adolescents by delaying onset of risk behaviors, reducing frequency of risk behaviors, and increasing health promoting behaviors.
  • Interventions that focus on the transition in personal responsibility associated with entering adolescence and young adulthood.
  • Development of age, language, and culture-appropriate educational products and programs for HIV prevention.
